Kevin Avery


Kevin Avery advises CEOs and functional leaders across Sales, Marketing, Product, Customer Success and HR via SBI’s Growth Acceleration business unit.

From 2013-2017, Kevin worked in SBI’s consulting business as Senior Consultant and Principal. Kevin’s clients ranged in size from $17M to $6B across two dozen industries.   He also fulfilled the role of subject matter expert in Routes to Market (aka Channels) strategy for the Firm.

Prior to rejoining SBI, Kevin operated Initiative-Driven, an independent advisory business, following a year in Forrester’s Sirius Decisions unit’s CSO practice and two years as independent consultant at Sales Executioner.

Kevin’s last Enterprise leadership role was Chief of Staff for the CRO of ~$1B Here Technologies where he ran sales strategy, operations and enablement. His other career stops at Syniverse (~500M), Cisco Systems ($44B) and Spanlink Communications ($1M-$40M) included leadership positions in:

  • Software, networking and telecom industries
  • Companies selling integrated solutions of hardware, software and professional services. 
  • Roles spanning direct and channel sales, marketing, and business development  
  • Functional and matrixed orgs of both OEMs and Channel Partners

Notably, Kevin:

  • Designed the foundation for a complete GTM transformation at Here Technologies
  • Co-designed and launched Cisco System’s Collaboration SaaS offerings.
  • Designed an integrated “guided sales execution” program at Cisco that netted over $100MM in competitive displacement bookings with a 90% win rate and zero no-decision outcomes.
  • Was VP Sales during IPO, hyper-growth, and privatization stages of Spanlink

Kevin graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Psychology.
